Original publisher's cloth, rebacked with the original spine laid down, 8vo., pp. xx, 650. A chromolitographed frontispiece, three more chromolitographs, eight full page b/w plates, 2 folding maps and many textual illustrations.
Some scattered very minor foxing, an unobtrusive and very light waterstain in the upper margin of a part of the pages, neither touching the text nor the plates, and the fore-edge of one folding map frayed.
There is a reading list on the ffep with the names of quite a few ministers; so probably this copy once was kept at a remote outpost of the British empire.
