A fine binding of 3/4 morocco over marbled paper covered boards, the spine richly gilt in a fine art deco design with small pieces of decorative leather laid in as leaves and flowers, 4to., pp. 184, 1 (colofon), (2),1 (printer's device).
The illustrations in this book are photogravures of an extremely high quality, done after the watercolours of Louis Maurice Boutet de Monvel. In total there are 28 plates hors texte and 8 engravings within the text.
The last page bears the printer's device of Boussod, Valadon et Cie. (pict. # 11).
An exceptional fine book. When the first or last text page of a chapter contains a small picture, the whole page has been engraved, i.e. the text and the picture (pict. #10). The text in the same lettertype as the normal text pages.
The spine and extremities a little rubbed. A true work of book art.
