"Stucco" in very good condition, but  lightly chipped along  edges and corners. Blue cloth spine lightly faded. Dutch, describes the life and work of the botanical artist, Maria Sibylla Merian, daughter of the famous printer Mattheus Merian. After marrying a Dutchman she visisted Surinam and back in Holland her opus magnum ‘Metamorphosis Insectorum Surinamensium’ was published.
